Lesson
n°17: Harmonics
Right hand:
position the hand folded as showed on the photo, the thumb leaning against
the same string as the forefinger joint.
Release the whole
hand in the same time in a swift movement towards the
outside. The harmonic plays the same note at a higher octave, with a
soft and stiffled sound. It only exists on a certain height of the string,
depending on your harp, usually in the first third of the string (from
the top). That's up to you to find it!
For the left hand, the position is very different: on the same string, you lean both the thumb and the hand side in the middle. |
As for the right hand, you release everything in a swift movement towards the outside. The harmonic also exists only at a particuler height on the string. (Usually, the lower the note, the higher is the harmonic). |

...and when you
release the hand. The harmonic is a complex technique, you'd better
ask a teacher to teach you first.
