Lesson
n° 3: Changing a broken string
This is the knot you should make with the new string. A tip: you may tie the string to a tiny wooden dowel or a big paper clip! |
Get the string
go through one of the holes inside the sound box.
The other end
of the string (the one without knot) reappears above the soundboard
(left hand).
Make
this end of the string go through the hole of the matching tuning peg.
Finally, make the rest of the string coil a bit over the tuning peg, then tune the harp by moving the tuning key towards the front of the harp. Then you can cut the extra-string, but keep it if it's still long enough to replace the string another time! A tip: you can usually replace a string by the spare string for the note just before or after: this can save you time and money!! |
